Michael Pennington

The famous actor and Shakespearean expert, Michael Pennington, is the first author to appear at the pre-Festival events of the Felixstowe Book Festival. On Sunday 12th June at 7pm, he will be speaking about his book, ‘In My Own Footsteps’.

Michael has been working as an actor and director for the past 57 years. He is an Honorary Associate Artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company and co-founded the English Shakespeare Company.

In the intimate setting of the Two Sisters Arts Centre at Trimley St Mary, he will be performing readings from his memoir which he says will be “generally funny, unexpected and full of heroes of the past – Paul Scofield, Peggy Ashcroft, Ian Holm, as well of my generation”.

“Michael Pennington has been at our festival before and I can’t describe adequately how amazing it is to hear this great actor talking about his life in theatre and even quoting from some of his greatest roles – such as some lines from the storm scene in Lear bringing the scene right there in the room. Really special!”, said Meg Reid, Festival Director.

Felixstowe Book Festival, in association with Black & White Productions, present this special opportunity to meet and talk with Michael, and hear his behind-the-scenes stories of life as an actor and director.
